Community Guidelines
CompSesh is a climbing session logging and social application built for the climbing community. These Community Guidelines exist to keep CompSesh a safe, welcoming, and honest environment for all climbers. By using CompSesh, you agree to follow these guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Respect Other Climbers
- Be supportive. CompSesh is a community of climbers at every level. Encourage progress, celebrate sends, and respect that everyone is on their own journey.
- No harassment or bullying. Do not direct threatening, intimidating, abusive, or demeaning behavior toward any user, whether during multiplayer sessions, through social features, or via any other interaction on the platform.
- No hate speech or discrimination. Content or behavior that targets individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
- Respect privacy. Do not share another person's personal information (real name, location, contact details, photos) without their explicit consent.
2. Keep Data Honest
Accurate data is central to CompSesh. Fabricated or intentionally misleading data undermines the experience for everyone.
- Log honestly. Record your actual climbs, grades, attempts, and sends. Do not fabricate sessions, inflate grades, or log climbs you did not attempt.
- Score with integrity. Do not manipulate the scoring system, exploit bugs, or use any method to artificially inflate your scores or Skill Index.
- Submit accurate gym information. When adding or editing gym data in the shared directory, ensure the information (name, location, grading system) is correct to the best of your knowledge.
- Report errors, don't exploit them. If you discover inaccurate gym data, incorrect grades, or a scoring bug, report it to us at [email protected] rather than exploiting it.
3. Appropriate Content
All content you upload or submit to CompSesh — including profile photos, gym images, display names, and any future media features — must comply with the following:
- No sexually explicit or pornographic material.
- No graphic violence, gore, or content depicting self-harm.
- No content depicting minors in any inappropriate context.
- No content promoting illegal activity, including drug use, theft, or trespassing.
- No spam, scams, or deceptive content, including fake accounts, phishing attempts, or promotional spam.
- No malware, exploits, or malicious content of any kind.
Profile photos and display names must be appropriate for a general audience. We reserve the right to remove inappropriate profile content without notice.
4. Multiplayer Session Conduct
CompSesh's multiplayer feature is built around friendly competition. Keep it that way.
- Compete fairly. Log your climbs honestly during multiplayer sessions. Deliberately logging false data during a multiplayer session to gain an unfair advantage is a serious violation.
- Be a good sport. Win or lose, treat other participants with respect. Excessive taunting, unsportsmanlike conduct, or toxic behavior ruins the experience for everyone.
- Respect session hosts. The session creator sets the rules (scoring mode, timer, gym). Respect those choices.
5. Intellectual Property
- Only upload content you have the right to share. Do not upload images, logos, or other media that belong to someone else unless you have permission.
- Respect gym branding. When submitting gym information, do not upload trademarked logos or copyrighted images without authorization from the gym.
6. Account Integrity
- One account per person. Maintaining multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, manipulate leaderboards, or evade bans is prohibited.
- Do not share your account. Your CompSesh account is personal to you. Do not share login credentials with others.
- Do not impersonate others. Do not create accounts or use display names that impersonate other climbers, gym staff, public figures, or CompSesh personnel.
7. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these Community Guidelines, please report it:
- In the App: Use the report button available on user profiles, content, and sessions.
- Email: [email protected]
Include as much detail as possible (username, description of the violation, screenshots if applicable). We acknowledge receipt of all reports and aim to review them within 24 hours. You will be informed of the outcome of your report. All reports are reviewed by our team and treated confidentially. We will not disclose the identity of the reporter to the reported user.
8. Enforcement
We enforce these guidelines through a graduated system based on the severity and frequency of violations:
8.1 Actions We May Take
- Warning — For first-time or minor violations, we may issue a warning explaining the violation and expected behavior.
- Content removal — We may remove content that violates these guidelines without prior notice.
- Temporary suspension — For repeated or moderate violations, we may temporarily suspend your account. You will be notified of the reason and duration.
- Permanent termination — For severe violations, repeated offenses after warnings, or any behavior that poses a safety risk to others, we may permanently terminate your account.
8.2 Severe Violations
The following may result in immediate permanent termination without prior warning:
- Threats of violence or physical harm
- Content depicting child exploitation or abuse
- Harassment campaigns or coordinated abuse
- Deliberate, large-scale data manipulation or fraud
- Distribution of malware or exploitation of security vulnerabilities
8.3 Appeals
When we take moderation action, we will inform you of the specific content affected, the reasons for the action, and your options for appeal. Moderation decisions are reviewed by a human and are not based solely on automated means.
If you believe enforcement action was taken against your account in error, you may appeal by contacting [email protected] within 30 days of the action. Include your username and an explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect. Our internal complaint-handling system is free of charge. We will review appeals and respond within 14 days.
We may take measures to prevent the re-upload of content that has been previously removed for violating these guidelines.
For users in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to submit disputes to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the Digital Services Act (DSA), or to the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
9. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. For material changes, we will notify users through the App or via email. The current version is always available at compsesh.app/community-guidelines.
