Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Download CompSesh from the App Store and open it. Tap Get Started and sign up with your email address, Apple ID, or Google account. Once you've set a display name and profile photo, you're ready to log your first session.
Is CompSesh free?
CompSesh is free to download and use. A CompSesh Pro subscription is available for climbers who want access to advanced stats, extended history, and additional features. Pro is purchased through the App Store and can be managed in your device's Subscription settings.
Which devices does CompSesh support?
CompSesh is available on iPhone and requires iOS 17 or later.
Sessions & Logging
How do I log a solo session?
Tap the + button on the home screen and select Solo Session. Choose your gym, then start logging climbs as you complete them. When you're done, tap Finish Session to save your results and see your score.
How do multiplayer sessions work?
One climber starts a multiplayer session and shares the invite link or code with others. Everyone joins the same session and climbs simultaneously — you can see each other's scores update in real time. The session ends when the host finishes it.
Can I edit or delete a logged session?
Yes. Open the session from your profile or history, tap the options menu (•••), and choose Edit or Delete. Deleting a session permanently removes it and its data from your history.
What does my session score mean?
Your session score reflects the difficulty and volume of climbs you completed, weighted by grade and send style (flash vs. send vs. attempts). Higher grades and cleaner sends earn more points. Your Skill Index is a rolling rating calculated from your recent session scores.
Gyms
My gym isn't in the app. How do I add it?
Tap Gyms in the app, then tap Add Gym. Enter the gym's name, city, and location. Once submitted, the gym becomes available to all CompSesh users. We review submissions to keep the directory accurate.
There's incorrect information about a gym. How do I report it?
Email us at [email protected] with the gym name and a description of what needs to be corrected. We'll update it promptly.
Account & Profile
How do I change my display name or profile photo?
Go to your profile, tap Edit Profile, and update your display name or photo. Changes are saved immediately and visible to other users.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, tap Forgot Password? and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. If you signed up with Apple or Google, password reset is managed through those services.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes all your data — sessions, climbing history, profile, and social connections. This action cannot be undone. If you have an active Pro subscription, cancel it through Apple's Subscription settings before deleting your account.
Subscriptions & Purchases
How do I manage or cancel my Pro subscription?
CompSesh Pro is billed through the App Store. To cancel, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select CompSesh. From there you can cancel, change your plan, or view billing history. Canceling stops future renewals; your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period.
I was charged but my Pro features aren't showing. What should I do?
Pull down to refresh the app or sign out and back in — this triggers a subscription check. If Pro features still don't appear after a minute, email us at [email protected] with your Apple ID (not your password) and we'll look into it.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. CompSesh does not process refunds directly.
Privacy & Data
How do I export my data?
Email us at [email protected] with "Data Export Request" in the subject line. We'll send you a copy of your data in JSON format within 30 days. You can also request deletion of your data at any time.
Who can see my sessions and profile?
By default, your profile and session activity are visible to other CompSesh users. You can adjust your visibility settings in Settings > Privacy. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what data is shared and with whom.
Troubleshooting
The app is crashing or behaving unexpectedly. What should I do?
First, try force-quitting and reopening the app. If the problem persists, make sure you're on the latest version (check the App Store for updates). Still having issues? Email us at [email protected] with a description of what happened and your device model and iOS version.
Real-time session data isn't updating for me or my teammates.
Real-time multiplayer requires a stable internet connection. Check that everyone is connected to Wi-Fi or has a strong cellular signal. If the issue continues, try ending and restarting the session. For persistent problems, contact us with details about your setup.
